Open to those attending Invent it. Build it. The EXPO provides the opportunity for attendees to explore careers in engineering and technology, engineering clubs, competitions, colleges, and a high-school speed mentoring event (pre-registration required). Learn about best practices, form partnerships, and try out some fun hands-on activities.

Invent it. Build it. (IIBI) is an experience designed to encourage girls to choose a career in engineering and technology.

High School Program

Saturday, October 23, 2021 | 12:00 – 3:30 p.m.

High school girls have the opportunity to experience the creative and innovative sides of engineering through hands-on projects alongside women engineers. The high school girls will work with SWE members from around the world on hands-on engineering activities; meet real engineers and learn what they do; make new friends; explore the Outreach Expo to learn about clubs, camps, competitions, and much more. Additionally, the girls will get an “Invent It. Build It.” T-shirt, bag, and various goodies; be eligible for raffle prizes, and have lunch with SWE engineers (lunch provided).

SWENext Community Award

This award encourages students to envision solutions to problems within their communities using science, technology, engineering or math (STEM), and to show that they have the capacity to pursue STEM careers. These awards are given to SWENexters in their freshman and sophomore years of high school who have been actively engaged in the SWE community, have a solid understanding of engineering principles, play a role in serving their own communities, and demonstrate strong leadership skills.

Parent Educator Program (PEP)

Saturday, October 23, 2021 | 12:00 – 3:30 p.m.

Parents, guardians, teachers, counselors, administrators, and leaders are encouraged to participate to:

  • Learn about engineering careers, scholarships, college admission, and resources
  • Network with SWE members as well as other parents and educators
  • Learn firsthand from a panel of SWE members and outreach experts
  • Complete a hands-on activity and learn best practices for engineering projects with girls
  • Have lunch with the SWE engineers (lunch provided)
